MOD 2013!

Last night we were invited as VIP guests to the March of Dimes Chef Event.  Local chefs make one of their signature dishes and we all get to eat them :) There was also a silent auction and a live auction.  I actually won two things in the silent auction!

I won a tapestry from a local artist, Liz Lemon
It's purple and teal!! I can't wait to add it to my craft/thinking area!

(This isn't it, but it shows the pretty colors!)

And I won a gift basket from Skyline Catering, which I bid on because we know and respect Ernie (the owner) as he did an AMAZING job at our wedding! (http://www.skylinecatering.com/)

I am waiting to see if there are any pictures from the event, I will post if there are!

Patrick and I were introduced to the crowd and asked to stand while everyone cheered us on for our efforts.  It was nice, but also bittersweet.

You all know the reason why we are supporters of MOD, but it can at a great cost.  So sometimes it's hard going to those events.

I also learned that the date has been set for Milwaukee's walk and it's April 27th!!! (I am STILL trying to get them to move it into May the following years! Milwaukee is COLD still in April!)
We will be hosting a kick off/silent auction party TBD sometime in Jan/Feb.

Hi baby boy. Mommy is missing you like crazy today.  The tears keep coming while I think of your sweet smiling face.  It's almost the dreaded October.  I'm trying to be strong for you and daddy, but I don't know if I can that day.  Please help me get through it, my darling angel.  I recently bought Carrie Underwood's recent album and of course, there's a song on there that reminds me of you.

I love you to the moon and back baby.

drip, drip, drip

So Patrick and I are trying to figure out what home projects we are going to start now that it's getting cooler outside.  I am VERY excited about getting our spice cabinet and pantry started,

BUT this drip...drip...drip...

has gotten our attention...

We have been collecting the water and using it to water our plants, but it's annoying! So a trip to Home Depot will be happening soon.

What home improvement projects are on your to-do list?

Ronan

Not sure if everyone is familiar with this story, but everyone should be.

Maya knew that something was wrong with her 4 year old son as soon as she noticed one of his eyes looked "off".  She called the family pedi and the doctor didn't think much of it, but Maya knew different.  She called doctor after doctor to get her son in the very next day to an eye specialist.  And he agreed, something was seriously wrong.

Ronan was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma August 12th, 2010

Ronan's battle with Neuroblastoma ended May 9, 2011, but his fight will go on.

Maya promised Ronan that she would fight for people to listen. To fight for children dying of cancer. To fight.

You can read more about Maya and her sweet boy here at her blog:

Where this story gets even bigger? Taylor Swift became one of Maya's followers and was really moved by their story.  So what does she do? She writes Ronan a song. And sings it live during a fight against cancer fundraiser.

I warn you, I was balling listening to this.  Taylor uses Maya's words in the lyrics. It's beautiful.

Here is the link to the video of the song.

We DID IT!!

Saturday was the Al's run and we both finished it!!! WITH NO STOPPING AND WALKING!!

My only *bummed* out issue was that my ankle was bothering me and it was HOT, so I didn't push myself as hard as I could have (or wanted too) I *HATE* running in the heat! Give me overcast with 70 degrees and I'm SET!

Here's one of the pictures we were able to get :

GMom, Hubs and me

More pictures to come (waiting on Al's peeps to send or post the rest!)

Overall the event was a success! Raised over $1 million buckeroos for the kiddos at CHW.  But in all honesty, it should have been more! WKLH raised over $1.4 million in 2 days... people had months to raise money for Al's and there were over 13,000 people running! Next year people, let's set those goals HIGH!!

Sunshine for Easton!

On Saturday a mom I know had a 5K in honor and memory of her little man Easton.  Easton passed away after only a few short months from SIDS.  Mom raised money and donated to their local SIDS charity.  Patrick and I SO badly wanted to surprise her by showing up to do the race with them, but didn't realize the drive was a lot further than we thought :(

I was talking to another group of friends that I was upset about missing it and she brought up the idea of running here in Milwaukee! DUH Jen!!  So Patrick and I set the alarm, so we could run at 8am (the time of the race in MI), taped the letter "E" to our shirts and ran!

And I saw this on friday, the night before the race!

Have a good night! :)

Best. Dream. EVER.

So Hubby's alarm started screeching at 530am on Tuesday morning.  First day going back to work after a 3 day weekend and he set it for 530am ?!?!? What was he thinking??? But maybe I owe him one.

I try to fall back asleep and thankfully I do.

I dream about these little legs and toes:

Dylan's cute little legs

and his very expressive toes :)

I swear I actually felt them in my hands and I felt like my lips where numb from kissing those legs and toes all over.  Dylan came to visit me, I am sure of it. And if I had any doubt, I woke up smelling him too.

I love you my sweet boy, to the moon and back.
